Interview: Up Close and Personal with James Yeo

Welcome to SingaporeFitnessNetwork.com. Can you tell us your feelings and expectations of being featured here on SingaporeFitnessNetwork.com

James Yeo: Thank you for featuring my profile! I feel honoured and excited to be featured here on SingaporeFitnessNetwork.com!

What made you join SingaporeFitnessNetwork.com?

James Yeo: To help clients on their fitness journey has always been a dream for me, and I know that Singapore Fitness Network currently has a huge pool of clients who really want to see changes in their lives and bodies. Therefore, I want to be able to help these clients reach their fullest potential as they head towards their goals.

How did you hear about us?

James Yeo: I am always on the lookout for ways to market myself so as to increase my business and to gain new clients, and I got to know about SingaporeFitnessNetwork.com while researching online.

Please tell us how you got involved in fitness.

James Yeo: As stated in my profile, for the first 20 years of my life, I was an overweight kid even though I was always actively participating in sports. Back then, gaining weight was an ease to me, but losing it was really difficult. In secondary school I played basketball really often, so even though I was overweight, controlling it wasn’t too difficult.

However, weight gain became a nightmare when I entered polytechnic. Due to the hectic schedule in school and the lack of participation in sports, I easily gained pounds and inches. While in my final year of studies in 2010, I hit my highest weight of 100kg.

I remember getting really scared for the first time and went off immediately to jog. After that I slowly started researching ways and methods to help me lose weight. I changed to a healthier lifestyle and started to eat and exercise properly. Within the first 4 months, I shredded 20kg off my body. By the time I finished my weight loss journey, I had successfully lost a total of 32kg! But things didn’t end there. My interest and passion in health and fitness have sparked me off on a journey to continue studying the Human Body - which brought me to where I am today: a freelance personal trainer.

What's the best thing about being a Fitness Professional?

James Yeo: You get to interact with people from different walks of life, hear their stories, and understand their needs and wants. Also, as you walk the fitness lifestyle with them, you get to educate them, and relate with their problems. And when results come, their sense of achievement becomes your sense of joy (:

What's the worst thing then about being a Fitness Professional?

James Yeo: Being in the industry for a while now, there’s nothing so bad about being a Fitness Professional that has caused me to categorize it under “worst”. I feel that being a Fitness Professional is a great privilege as you get to help others with a personal touch.

Can you tell us more about your fitness philosophy?

James Yeo: I believe in giving my clients what they need so that they can achieve what they want.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

James Yeo: In the next 5 years, I see myself still helping clients with my goal-specific personal training style, while making training really fun for my clients. But more than that, I also see myself hosting talks to inspire more people to walk the fitness journey to build a better person out of themselves.

How does one contact you if he/she is interested in your services?

James Yeo: You can email me at yeoyiquan@gmail.com or call me at 91370941. You can also follow my instagram at @br3akthr0ugh to check out the things I do with my clients, check out my meals or even just to enjoy some motivation from my pictures! Hope to hear from you soon!!
